I play piano/keyboards as well as write music. I think writing music has helped me with my drumming from the sense of understanding a song. I actually played keyboards in a band with Joe's Mechanic way back when. The cool part of that band was that it started as a trio with me playing drums and programming the keyboard parts, so when Joe's Mech joined, I got to hear his interpretation of my parts! He put a whole new spin on the parts and made them his own. So cool!

Well, I've taken lessons for a few instruments, but drums were all that stuck. I like to say "I play at the guitar". I know enough to get myself in trouble. One of these days, I'll get the cajones to get up in front of people on a different instrument........

I played the trumpet until I took up the drums at 15 and it REALLY helped. Even now, I feel like I have a musicality I wouldn't otherwise have developed if I'd only focussed on drums. Makes me feel better about having no chops to speak of...

i played piano before drums for about a yaer, my parents spent a fortune buying me a piano and then i quit so imagine how reluctant they were of buying me a drumset.
I would love to start it up again for the purposes of creating an album later on in life where i act as a leader and/or writer, but for now i have to concentrate on the drums.

As a child, I played violin for a few years. Playing violin definitely helped my reading skills and helped me to realize & appreciate the drummer's role in serving the music.

Next to drums, I play a little bit of keyboard/piano, Bass and Guitar. I also studied the science of music at the University back in Germany.
I want to start to take piano lessons again because I only learned classical stuff fom 10 -12 years old and forgot most of it already.
I just have to find someone who is a good teacher is not that expensive.
